The Bro Bowl
Troy Durett, Lance Robson and myself started documenting the free public skate park in Perry Harvey, Sr. Park in Tampa, FL known lovingly as as The Bro Bowl. Our initial idea was to document the impending destruction of the bowl and the efforts of the skaters and Tampa locals to help “save the bowl” from re-development. However, during the first six months of shooting we quickly realized that our documentary was shaping up to be more about the history of the bowl and the people who skate there.
The stories that we have uncovered truly take the documentary in a different direction than originally thought, focusing on the cultural significiance of the skatepark and the role that it has played in the history of skateboarding.
The documentary is set to be finalized towards the end of the summer with a hope for festival release toward the end of the year. I’ll keep you updated.
